What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture originated in China over 5,000 years ago making it one of the oldest and most commonly used medical procedures in the world. It is based on the belief that health is determined by a balanced flow of Qi, the vital life energy present in all living organisms. According to acupuncture theory, Qi is circulated in the body along fourteen energy pathways, called meridians, each linked to specific internal organs and organ systems.

There are over one thousand acupoints within the meridian system that can be stimulated to enhance the flow of Qi. When special fine needles are inserted into these acupoints (just under the skin), they help correct and rebalance the flow of energy and consequently restore health. This is painless and without side effects. Patients find the treatments very enjoyable, deeply relaxing and report looking forward to receiving them.

The World Health Organization recognizes over 43 conditions that can be treated with Acupuncture including:

Gastrointestinal Disorders: ulcers, chronic diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, gastritis, nausea.

Urogenital Disorders: stress incontinence, urinary tract infection, sexual dysfunction.

Gynecological Disorders: irregular, heavy or painful menstruation, infertility in women and men, PMS.

Respiratory Disorders: emphysema, sinusitis, asthma, allergies, bronchitis.

Disorders of Bones, Muscles, Joints and Nervous System: arthritis, migrane headaches, Insomnia, dizziness, low back, neck, hip, knee and shoulder pain.

Circulatory Disorders: high blood pressure, angina pectoris, arteriosclerosis, anemia.

Emotional and Psychological Disorders: stress, depression, anxiety. Addictions: alcohol, nicotine, and drugs.

About Michael:

Brought up in a holistic family, Michael has studied and practices unique styles of alternative medicine. At a young age, Michael was introduced to Reiki and learned the art himself. Through this experience with energy work, it has provided a pure foundation for his current work.

With a background in Sports Medicine and a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Michael has spent the last 10 years learning and applying different modalities of the healing arts. Michael’s commitment to the art had brought him to China to study and practice this medicine. Through his international travels, it has given him the passion to continue cultivating through Eastern Medicine.

Working in children’s hospital and treating professional athletes with acupuncture and massage therapy, demonstrates his versatility within the field. His enthusiasm and love for the medicine is exhibited through this passion to help and heal people.
